I’ve Taken The Plunge, Now What?

Remain Committed! That’s what! Having a dream is one thing, but working to maintain the dream takes dedication, persistence and commitment! There are some things that you have to do after you’ve taken the plunge into the deep, or else you’ll end up in the shallow waters of a missed season. I’ve had to edit this blog because I wanted to share some of my personal struggles since taking the plunge. My prayer is that it encourages you.

A few days after taking the plunge and publishing my first blog, our two year old son became sick. In the past week alone, I’ve sat in the doctors office twice, taken him to work with me and had to eventually stay home for a day. Did I want to write? Of course I did, but being a mother meant putting aside what I wanted to do for the time being and focusing my attention on our son. As ideas came for future blog titles, I quickly saved them in my notes for future reference. It would have been so easy to make excuses of why I couldn’t publish this week, but this is my dream, and I had to put in the work. It has been said that “nothing worth having comes easy” and I believe that it’s true.

“Now what?” takes focus, commitment, consistency, encouragement, and being true to your why. Why are you doing what you are doing and what is the purpose you want to achieve? You must recognize that the dream and the ability to swim in the deep requires strength, not in yourself, but in God. Do you know how many times I’ve prayed asking God for strength and grace to get me through the day? I truly believe it was a test of my faith. It would have been so easy to throw in the towel, but I chose not to, and if I can hold on to my dream so can you. Shallow waters has a lot of sand that can irritate you, but deep waters have waves and billows of grace that can sustain you.

As you’ve taken the plunge into your dream and destiny, there is no going back! And if you haven’t yet, what is stopping you? Ensure that the dream you are pursuing is yours and no one else’s. Pursue the things that you are passionate about! Don’t be afraid to take a break and reset, so that you are refreshed in God’s presence. The trials and storms of life will come, but God is with you, even in the times you feel alone, He is there. Lean into His grace, allow His breath to breathe peace upon you, and continue to plunge into the ocean of your dreams and destiny. Daughter of Fire, I am rooting and praying for you.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” -Romans 8:18 (NIV)

  1. Everytime you post it’s like you and God just had the exact conversation He and I had😂! Thank you so much for this! I’ve took the plunge in something I wanted to do but I’d make excuses as to why I can’t or because I don’t “feel” like it’s time but if I live off feelings for the rest of my life I’d get nothing done! So just as you’re rooting and praying for me I’ll do the same for you!❤️

  2. After reading your first blog post it made me sat down to really try to figure out what my actual dreams are🥺. What advice would you give someone who has multiple dreams but doesn’t know where to begin?

    1. Hi Asia, I’m learning to take baby steps, so my advice would be to focus on what you are passionate about and what is achiveable, meaning what you can do right now. Then, take the plunge! 👏👏
