Make Room For Jesus & Your Gift Will Make Room For You

“A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” – Proverbs 18:16

There are so many scriptures that we quote as believers that have become almost like a cliche, even non-believers quote them and don’t really understand their meaning. I believe that Proverbs 18:16 is one of them. It talks about how a man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men. Oftentimes, it causes us to focus on the gift making room for us and we forget to focus on The Giver of the gift.

The Giver of the gift is the Lord Jesus Christ, it is by His Spirit that we receive these gifts, but the culture of the church today has shifted and caused us to focus on gifts and how we are so gifted and anointed that we don’t really acknowledge the One who gave us the gift. When our lives are yielded and bowed at the feet of Jesus, it is evident in everything that we do. Having an intimate relationship with Jesus is the most important relationship any believer can ever have. It will cause you to have a desire to please Him in everything you do. The focus isn’t on how many likes, fans, or followers we have, but the focus is on how much we have pleased Him with what He has given us. The focus is on whether He is pleased and glorified.

I am in constant awe of the grace that the Lord has given me to write. In writing, I partner with Him to encourage, motivate, inspire and challenge others to see Him. About two weeks ago, I received a message from a Sister who wanted to enhance what the Lord has called me to do by blessing me with the talent that the Lord had given them, the funny thing is that I was thinking of calling them anyway! Then earlier this year, I began some Life Coaching sessions that motivated, challenged (made me cry a whole lot) and enabled me to pursue my dreams of becoming a writer. The gift that was in me was making room for me, while I made room for Jesus. The process was anything but easy, it took me out of my comfort zone, and caused me to move away from what was familiar to me. The gift in me brought me before professionals that were using their gifts, talents and abilities to further enhance the gift that the Lord had given me.

When we make room for Jesus and use our gift for Him, we don’t compete or compare because we are secure in who we are in Him. Jesus knew He was a Gift to the world, and He stayed focused on the assignment, ‘to do the will of my Father.’ Jesus wasn’t distracted, because He knew and understood His why. Jesus had to deny Himself, ignore the noise, and focus on the Father. The same is true for us, we don’t idolize the gift or think we are better than others, but we walk in humility before Christ, we are actually serving Him by serving others, and it doesn’t make us superior to others. We must also remember that we have to give an account for what He has entrusted to us, so use it well and use it for Him!

My encouragement for you today, is to focus on the Giver of the gift, for it will bring you before great men. It will open doors for you that you never thought was possible. There have been testimonies of how others have been encouraged by the blog “Daughter of Fire.” It has kept me on my face in gratitude to my Lord Jesus. My greatest desire is that He would fill my life until all they see is Him, that His name would always be glorified. I see the words that I type as His words and not mine, He just needed to use my fingers, my hands to speak to others. I constantly remain in awe of Him. How kind and gracious He is, and how much He loves me. I know He doesn’t have favorites but I know He loves me unconditionally. I can never repay Him for what He’s done and is continuing to do in my life and in the lives of those who want to grow deeper in Him.

Daughter of Fire, make room for Jesus and He will make room for the gift that will bring you before great men. His favor will surround you like a shield. There is so much in you that someone else is waiting on. Don’t hide, don’t compare, remember that you are unique and that there is no one in the world like you. You have been created to be just that special. You bring something different to the table. Someone next to you or thousands of miles away from you is patiently waiting for the beautiful gift that’s in you. Make room for Jesus and watch Him use the gift to bring you before great men. Daughter of Fire, you are a gift. You are not too old or too young. Don’t count yourself out, but use the gift or gifts that He has deposited in you. May the fire within you set you ablaze in your purpose for Him! Make room for Jesus as the gift in you brings you before great men!

  2. I can’t believe I was this far behind! Lol! Even two weeks behind this is “my word”! Thank you for the reminder that I am a gift for His use, and that His gift for in me is for others. I am reminded of the scripture about treasure in earthen vessels. It is such a privilege to be used of Him. May it always be about Him and never us. May we remain humble always!!! Thanks for sharing!
