Wait On The Lord

.

“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” -Pslam 27:14

Wait on the LORD, wait for the LORD, sometimes this can sound so churchy, so cliche. We’re quick to tell others to wait on the LORD, but anxiety overtakes us when it’s time for us to wait. Impatience and discouragement replace patience and courage. In Psalm 27, David went through so much, yet Psalm 27 ended with him believing that he will look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. He encouraged us to wait and to let our hearts take courage, as we wait on the LORD.

Therefore, I want to encourage you today to wait ON and wait FOR the LORD. Don’t be hasty to make rash decisions, but wait on the LORD. Though you may lose some friends because you took a stand for righteousness, wait on the LORD. It may seem like your marriage may be over yet you know that is not what the LORD has said concerning your marriage, I encourage you to wait FOR the LORD. The children you raised may seem to want to have nothing to do with God, church, and even serving in ministry, keep praying and wait on the LORD. It may seem that everyone on the job is against you, that you don’t even understand what you have done to them, stand still and wait on the LORD.

Waiting is not easy, I waited many years before I obtained my Bahamian passport, I was in my thirties and already married. I had opportunities to get it ‘under the table’ but I am glad that I waited on the LORD. I could have been married at a young age, maybe even before I had children, but I am glad that I waited for the LORD. Wait on the LORD when times are good and not so good. Wait and believe that the LORD is always with you, working in you, developing your character, believe that He is teaching you to trust Him. Wait and believe that He is transforming you into who He would have you to be. Wait on the LORD with courage, do not fear, for He is with you. Wait on Him, do not respond in anger or malice when you see and hear others pulling you down, trying to destroy your character, but remember the battle is not yours, wait FOR the LORD.

In ministry, wait on the LORD. Do not abort the call and the purpose for why the LORD has positioned you for such a time as this, wait I say on the LORD. Be of good courage and wait FOR the LORD. The LORD who sees and knows all things. The LORD who loves and cares for you! Wait patiently before Him, wait lovingly upon Him. He cares for you, and He loves you. He sees every tear, He hears every prayer. In His time, He will rescue you, and He will prepare a table for you in the Presence of your enemies. Love your enemies, love like Jesus, serve like Him, and wait for Him. His timing is best. No, He has not forgotten you. No, you are not alone. This is so much bigger than you. When you have endured, in just a little while, maybe you’ll understand like Joseph did, to save a generation or maybe even a nation. Wait I say on the LORD. Be strong and of good courage and wait on the LORD.
