TRUSTing & LEANing

Have you ever wondered why in Proverbs 3:4-5, we are to trust in the Lord with all our heart, but also lean NOT to our understanding? In my experience, I’ve found that there have been times when I trusted in the Lord, but I was leaning on my own understanding and not His. My understanding caused a lot of trouble and chaos. But God, in His divine graceful nature, brought me through.

When we lean on our own understanding, we produce the fruit of pride, arrogance, doubt, anxiety, and double-mindedness. But when we trust with all our heart, and lean on the understanding of the Lord, it produces the fruit of peace, love, joy, patience, perseverance, integrity, and godly character. We learn to lean on Jesus as we are waiting on Him. Leaning says to Jesus, ‘I need you.’ Leaning is surrendering our will to His. Leaning is an act of worship, it communicates to the Lord, that even though I don’t understand what the outcome will be, I believe that You have my best interest at heart. Trusting is knowing that the Lord will do what He says He will do. Leaning is believing that He will do it despite what is seen in the natural.

Trusting and leaning on Jesus requires waiting, and the waiting room is often noisy and busy, but even in the noise, He whispers, and His whisper is loud when we are listening even in the chaos. I waited for many years to receive my Bahamian passport. I was married and still didn’t have my Bahamian passport. Application after application and having to reapply was disheartening, but I had to learn to trust in the Lord, leaning on Him when alternatives to His path were proposed to me. Choosing another path and trusting in horses and chariots would have been much easier, but the Lord was building character, integrity and perseverance within me.

Daughters of Fire, I’ve learned that the process isn’t easy, but I’ve also learned that it’s worth it. Do it God’s way. Trust in the Lord. Lean on the Lord. Acknowledge Him while you’re trusting, asking Him questions, and waiting for the answers, even when they come at times, trust that to your why, the answer is peace that surpasses understanding, and that is more than enough. He will make your path straight. He will favor you when you lean on Him. His way is much better. Don’t lose your integrity choosing shortcuts. Don’t disrespect authority, because you can’t wait. Daughters of Fire, remember that there are consequences for everything we do. Choose God’s way and His path. Wait your turn. The Lord is working in us, through us and for us even when we think He isn’t. I’ve seen that when I trusted in the Lord and leaned on Him, He changed legislation to perfect things that concerned me. I’m no different then you because sometimes I do become anxious. When I do, I can hardly pray, yet His word says to be anxious for nothing. His way. His timing. His word. They are all perfect, God is perfect.

Leaning on Jesus pleases Him in a way we can never imagine. He is my Beloved, and I am His, and I must wait for Him. He knows what’s best for you and me. Daughters of Fire, remember that while you trust and lean on Jesus, no one can close or open any door. The power is in His hands. He holds the power to bless and favor you. My heart is filled with gratitude when I think of the obstacles that was placed in my path, because the Lord wanted me to wait. The doors that were closed because he wanted me to wait. I am blessed beyond measure to know that He had a better plan for my life. My purpose and destiny is locked in Him. He holds my future. He is worthy of all the praise and glory. Every season that bears fruit is because of Him. I owe it all to Jesus. I thank Him for teaching me to wait, even when it brought tears and heartache, when I didn’t understand. I trust Him even more now, because He has proven to me that when I trust and lean upon Him, He will come through every single time.

Daughters of Fire, I encourage you to trust in the Lord, worship in your leaning, acknowledge Him in every decision, and remember to say, ‘if the Lord wills.’ I am praying for you as you wait, as you trust and lean upon the Lord. I love you, but Jesus loves you best!

Father God, I love You and bless You, I thank You for teaching, and being patient with me as I have learned to trust, lean and wait upon You. I pray for every Daughter, that will read this blog, I pray Father that in Your love and mercy, that You will grant them an extra measure of grace as they learn to trust, lean, acknowledge and wait on you. Father, remind them that You are working all things out for their good and Your glory. Father, where there is anxiety, I command peace in the lives of Your daughters. Father where is compromise, I command integrity. Where there is fear, I command Your perfect love. Where there are tears that no one sees but You, I know that you bottle them, and Father, I command peace, hope and love. Father, make their way secure, make ways in the desert, and streams in the wilderness as they continue to trust in Your Son Jesus. Father God, we love You, bless every daughter reading this blog, meet them at the point of their need, give them a testimony of Your surely goodness and mercy. May they walk in the abundant life that Jesus has available for them. May they bear fruit in every area of their lives as they trust and lean upon Jesus. This is my hearts prayer for Your Daughters and my Sisters, In Jesus Name. Amen.
