God’s WAITing Room

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” (Psalm 27:14)

The waiting room is a place of uncertainty and probably every emotion that you can think of. You don’t know if the news that you’re waiting to receive will be good or bad. Anxiety is at an all-time high. Stress levels are through the roof. What will the doctor say when he comes out? Will the prognosis be good or bad? You just don’t know!

Daughters of Fire, waiting is hard, but waiting on God is not without hope. As I was thinking about what the blog topic would be or if there would even be a blog posted this week, I had to wait on the Lord. The few weeks’ break was a blessing! The Lord knows just what we need! While some may say, ‘it’s just a blog, just write, what are you waiting for?’ I’ve learned that in God’s waiting room, it requires patience, trust, and removing distractions to hear Him clearly. God’s waiting room requires good courage, because waiting is difficult. This year, I’ve learned some benefits of waiting, and I’ve seen the hand of the Lord move in my life to bless me because I waited. Daughters, it was hard to wait! I struggled, but the more I released what I thought it should be, the more my trust in the Lord grew. My faith was stronger as I waited. I realized that He was building my character for something much bigger than I could have ever imagined. I saw God’s purpose in God’s Waiting Room.

I was born to Haitian parents, but I was born in the Bahamas. Therefore, there was a process of waiting until I was eighteen to apply for my Bahamian Citizenship. While other parents applied for Travel Documents for their children before the age of eighteen, which enabled them to travel, my mother didn’t do the same for my brothers and me. I applied for my Bahamian citizenship at age eighteen, before my younger brothers. Their application was approved before mine. As a matter of fact, everyone else’s application was approved before mine was. It wasn’t until I was thirty-five years old that my application was finally approved! I was already married, yet unable to purchase land or even travel. But, while I waited, I filled out applications for others, I rejoiced with them when they were approved, and I watched them travel. I sometimes even had to drive them to the airport or to the Harbor! The Lord was doing a work in me! Our attitude and what we do while we wait on the Lord sometimes determine how long we wait.

I now know that if I had my Bahamian passport at the age when I applied, I wouldn’t have been serving the Lord in ministry. I wouldn’t have been in the Bahamas. I would have been doing my own thing. In Psalm 27:14, there are instructions given on how to wait. It’s important to know who we are waiting on, because sometimes we wait on people and not on the Lord. We wait for them to give the word, instructions, or the command, and it’s just not the voice of God for our lives. Wait, and wait on the Lord. Can you imagine waiting many years, and you believe that it’s God speaking, and it’s not? Daughters get to know God and the voice of God for yourself. This is important in all aspects of our lives. David always inquired of the Lord, and we should do the same. If we’re lazy and we honor the voice of others above the voice of the Lord, it will be detrimental to our lives.

In God’s waiting room, His voice must be louder than the voices in our head and around us. Even though Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, a place that the Lord had placed them, there was still a voice there that wasn’t the voice of God. Daughters of Fire, I don’t know what you’re waiting on the Lord for, but I do know that He can be trusted to be waited upon. God has the perfect track record. He always delivers on His promises. He is a Good Father who always takes care of His children. He is not an absentee father. Don’t compare Him to your Daddy or your Mommy, who promised you something and didn’t deliver. God is not like that; He is good. Perfect. Holy. Kind. Loving. Beautiful. Faithful. Honorable. He can be trusted. He loves you with an everlasting love. He is the most honest person that you can ever have in your life. While you wait, tell Him how hard it is to wait. He understands completely. Ask Him for the grace to wait; He will grant it to you. The Lord Jesus had to wait until He was a certain age to do ministry. Don’t rush. Serve Him while you wait, trust Him while you wait.

Daughters of Fire, wait on the Lord in every area of your life. He always comes through. Don’t compare your wait to others because you don’t know the details of their journey. You don’t know what the Lord is doing in their lives. Waiting requires faith because you have to believe that it is the Lord God speaking, testing, and refining you. Lovingly, molding and shaping you into who He would have you to be. He blesses us while we wait, and there is no better room to wait in than in the Lord’s waiting room. There is freedom while waiting, that’s if you’re waiting on the Lord. Pray and wait, not just for yourself but for those who ask you to pray for them, and for just what you are waiting for. I have testimonies of the blessing of the Lord because I waited. I’ll also share my struggles with anxiety and pride over the next few weeks. I want my journey to inspire your journey as we continue to wait together. Daughters of Fire, this is the beginning of something new and beautiful, and I’ll be praying for you as you wait. I can’t wait to hear the testimonies of the breakthroughs and miracles, of how you overcame while you waited. God bless, strengthen, and encourage you as you continue to wait on Him. Daughters of Fire, I love you, but Jesus loves you best!
